Pelosi Sending Impeachment Articles Next Week… Maybe
CD Media ^ | 01/10/2020 | Taylor Day

Impeachment articles will supposedly be on their way to the Senate as soon as next week after Speaker Pelosi finally gets around to doing what she claims she’s been doing all this time — picking managers to formally present the articles of impeachment on the Senate floor.

“I have asked Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler [D-N.Y.] to be prepared to bring to the Floor next week a resolution to appoint managers and transmit articles of impeachment to the Senate.”

Pelosi writes in a letter to Democrats on Friday, The Hill Managers could have been picked before articles of impeachment were even voted on or any time thereafter, begging the question what has Nancy been doing this entire time?

The answer: Stalling.

Pelosi says she will “take steps” which really just means whatever she wants it to mean, and this observer believes that translates to more postponing.

She has been delaying sending the articles for weeks, citing concerns over whether the Senate trial would be fair. Although a fair trial isn’t ensured to her, rather President Trump, she really is dragging her feet on what will ultimately be a failure in the Republican-majority Senate.

This week, growing pressure from her democratic colleagues to transmit the articles have put Nancy in a tough place. Republican Senators also moved for a motion to dismiss the impeachment articles if not sent to them within 25 days. Even if she sends them on Monday, it could be too late if Sen. Hawley’s motion is accepted, giving the Senate an opportunity to dismiss the impeachment articles without a trial.

Pelosi continues to say that this is proof of an unfair trial. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hasn’t budged on his plan to use the same exact perimeters as the Clinton impeachment trial, though, which means any decisions on witnesses will happen after the Senate trial begins… and not at the whim of the Speaker of the House who does not hold that authority.

On Thursday, Sen. McConnell stated on the floor of the Senate:

“A majority of this body has said definitively that we are not ceding our constitutional authority to the partisan designs of the Speaker. We will not let the House extend its precedent-breaking spree over here to our chamber.”.

Has Nance really decided to take the next step (off the ledge) or is this just damage control? Hours before Pelosi stated that she would be moving forward with impeachment, a TIME profile of the Speaker of the House was published with a very different take:

“Pelosi, according to an aide, had been mulling the tactic since she heard former Nixon White House counsel John Dean float the idea on CNN on Dec. 5. In the committee meeting, she added that she believed McConnell would be motivated to move. ‘Somebody said to me today that he may not even take up what we send. [But] then [Trump] will never be vindicated,’ she said, according to the aide in the room. ‘He will be impeached forever. Forever. No matter what the Senate does.’”

The TIME article accidentally highlights a ridiculous hypocrisy of the Left. For years we have heard how Trump “gets his talking points from Fox News” but TIME reveals that the “master legislator” Pelosi is gathering her political strategies from CNN. (The same CNN who has just settled a multi-hundred-million dollar lawsuit for pumping out Fake News.)

McConnell is pretty unmoved that they’re being sent over, especially since he hasn’t blinked once when faced with all the demands Pelosi has made. Not only has he been prepared for this trial since before it was certain there would be one, he still has options while she has none.

“McConnell deflated much of Pelosi’s leverage earlier this week when he announced that he had enough votes within his GOP conference to vote to begin the trial without acceding to Democrats’ demands to commit to witness testimony first.” The Hill

If it’s true that Pelosi will send the articles of impeachment next week, expect that the Senate will begin trial very quickly. Unfortunately for the DNC, this will tie up five of the current sitting Democrat Senators that are also running for president, right before the Iowa caucuses which take place on February 3rd.

Pelosi's biggest fear?

GOPers calling witnesses and asking questions.

Never happen. More stalling count on it. She is going to make damn sure Trump still has this BS hanging over his head when he delivers the SOTU address.

I can’t help but wonder if all this stalling has to do with the health of RBG.

I used to think that. I don’t anymore. Occam’s razor demands it is just simple incontinence

Unfortunately, that is also the GOP’s biggest fear.

Just some papers as of now. And, she apparently told nadless to get ready to prepare. That’s similar to “fixin’ to” down south.

This is why McConnell should just dismiss this soap opera. Not doing so, gives the issue credence and defensive. His argument would be that he “doesn’t have time for this silly nonsense.”

I think RBG must be related to Keith Richards.
The two of them will be sitting hand-in-hand watching our sun go red dwarf.

“This is why McConnell should just dismiss this soap opera”

Should but won’t. If this was reversed the rats would done exactly that the 2nd day the articles weren’t sent. They would have seized it to ridicule the Republicans and tossed this turd 48 hours after the house vote if the articles were not sent. But we have Mitch, a slow shaky commodity with tepid support at best for Trump.

On the contrary. This is why McConnell should subpoena every coupist involved in this op and shine the bright lights of the Senate impeachment trial on them. Make it clear to the country that the GOP fully supports POTUS and any further coupist activity will result in swift action by POTUS that is fully supported by all the power of the GOP controlled Senate.

That won’t be happening because the GOP has not and will not support POTUS. The GOP have aided and abetted The Resistance (TM) coup for three years and will not stop now.

RBG reminds me of a cross between the Month Python “Mary Queen of ascots” sketch and a line from Godfather II.

Ruffians - I think she’s dead
MQoS - No I’m not

Michael Corleone - Hyman Roth has been dying from the same heart attack for over 20 years...
