Lots are sexy but not slutty.
“Katherine Hepburn pants.”
Seed of evil.
I wonder if they have any costume patterns?
My Home Ec teacher told me the pattern I selected was to difficult for my first project.
So I took the chosen pattern home and brought a really simple A-line to school for my first project.
The A-line dress fell apart the first time in the wash. This was after I followed every stinky stupid bit of instruction from her.
The chosen pattern? I wore it until it fell apart. My mom supervised me and didn’t touch a thread, bobbin, or scissors; she said it was to be all my doing. She just wanted to make sure I didn’t hurt her sewing machine.
LOL
It all depends on who’s teaching the skill!
It is such a shame they don’t do sewing classes these days.
Not the wiki leaks doc dump I was expecting.
HA HA
I learned from my mother, who was an expert seamstress, partly due to she had limitless creativity and problem-solving abilities. She would just “figure it out” (which also applied to all types of needlecrafts, woodworking, etc.).
I did take lessons, just because she was teaching them, at the YWCA for a few weeks one summer. But no Home Ec class.
WOW I don’t think I need 83,000 more patterns, though! I have plenty to work through. Hoping I still have the desire and ability to sew, when I reach retirement and expect to have the time to sew. It is very therapeutic for me.
I can’t find the actual pattern pieces. Maybe I’m looking for something that isn’t there.
If only it was as easy now to find nice fabric...
Morgana, you are wonderful! The very first pattern that caught my eye on the front page is the coat my wife has been wanting and even in the right size! We like doing projects together and she’s been wanting me to show her how to make clothes from a pattern. She’ll be in heaven!
Thank you so much!
Oh. Sorry. Not a girl. I was raised by women, two of whom were seamstresses. To not learn to sew was blasphemy, to not learn embroidery was heresy. :)
Thank you so much for this post. I learned to sew from my mother. She learned from her paternal grandmother. I taught my daughters and granddaughters.
A good place for patterns in my area is the local thrift store.
Pretty cool!
this site is click bait, there are no patterns.
My wife was horrible at math, especially fractions UNTIL she took up sewing.
MC Hammer patterns??
This is cool. Thanks for posting that find.
Oh this is so misogynistic...I’ll be in my safe space if anyone needs anything.
My mother-in-law probably had every one of those in her craft room filing cabinets. (Yes...filing cabinetS.)
We passed them on to some ladies in the church.
Many of those images are perfect for creating MEMEs.
The gears are a turnin...
