The other HS in Compton, Centennial, has a notable alums list which reads quite long as well. Well better that some prove that where one comes from doesn’t mean you still can’t accomplish things and be successful. Regardless of field.

I know of people who lead after school programs in things like Shakespeare and classical music for inner city kids and the impact has proven fruitful

“accomplish things and be successful. Regardless of field.”

I agree that to become nationally known as an athlete or entertainer requires a lot of good attributes.

I’m in a field that doesn’t attract a lot of attention. I and many other like me need not feel small alongside those in the public eye.

I have no problem with immigrants coming in legally and taking up the tax load to build better schools, roads, etc....

lots of German,Polish,Italian, Irish,Russian, Ukranian etc forefathers did the same....

its when they don't participate in our culture that angers me....

So you let me know when you see millions of Europeans - the original genetic version, not the current Middle Eastern / Sub-Saharan African version - streaming into our country as they did between 1880 and 1924.

And since my Anglo-Saxon Protestant ancestors go WAAAY back before that, I can safely tell you the arrival of the “Great Wave” people had a profound BAD effect on this country as they introduced the totally ALIEN ideas of Socialism and Marxism where such ideas were utterly unknown.

It took the 1924 Immigration Act and 40 years of virtually no immigration except from Britain and other parts of Northern Europe to assimilate the people who came in the Great Wave, and some of them still ain’t assimilated. Those would be the people who are trying to impeach the duly elected President of the United States on phony, baseless charges.

So uh, you’ll pardon me if I’m less then impressed with the notion that 1/3 of the population of Mexico, 1/10 the population of China, 1/20 the population of India and God knows what fraction of the African population will EVER end up “participating” in our culture.

What they WILL do and HAVE done is violently agitate for preferences over the American population, sucked up trillions of taxpayer dollars (mostly borrowed, so even worse when we have to pay back with interest), rioted to allow their home countries to take markets that used to be American, and worked ceaselessly to undermine and destroy what was left of our immigration laws to the point now where it’s considered entirely OK for states to simply give the Federal government the finger and ignore virtually ALL immigration laws, thus giving extra-judicial rights to people here illegally.

That sound like a grateful group of foreigners desperate to meld themselves into the American pot?

“You cant find one predominant black high school with good scores or an asuan one with bad”

True today but that observation doesn’t lead us to anywhere good.
