while a censure is “a form of public shaming in which the politician must stand before his peers to listen to the censure resolution”.[3]

So is it an impeachable offense if the president refuses to stand before his peers to listen to the censure? Or would they just censure him for doing that?

Baloney. It hasn’t been a year. The IG report couldn’t be completed before Mueller’s investigation was closed, and Mueller’s last official act was to testify before Nadler’s committee last summer.

I don’t think Trump really has any peers. Pelosi thinks she is Trump’s peer but she is only a leader among equals with some power over what comes to the floor for a vote. She has other powers as speaker but they don’t compare to presidential powers.

I think the speaker is referred to as first among equals in the House.

I thought Eric the Red Holder was censured over Fast and Furious. He yawned, said FU and went on his merry corrupt way.

They have 31 vulnerable Dems in Trump districts and most of them will be goners if they vote to impeach.

Those 31 members lost when the voted to proceed. No amount of getting cute will fix that. You say you didn't vote for impeachment and you are a Democrat and you lose a sizable chunk of your Dem base and a few looney Ind. That alone will cause your demise. You vote for it and you lose, maybe by less but you lose. Dems are headed for a 1994 style wipeout. I bet we get 28+ of those 31 back and few Democrat pickups, maybe 3-5. Where this will really hurt is the Senate, Michigan looks like it is play for a flip now. President...please...not a 1984 style wipeout but a solid win for Trump. Pelosi in her zeal committed party Hari Kari. We are watching the left disintegrate before our eyes into factions of socialist, deviants and arrogant jagoffs. When that Puerto Rican ignoramus AOC is the future of your party, you know you got issues.

Someone on the radio said ‘that 14 Democrats are voting against impeachment.’ That means Nancy has enough votes to impeach. So let’s get it over with, and send it to the Senate.

Congress can pass a resolution with any wording they like.

After butchering the meaning of the impeachment clause (which is actually in the Constitution) they will certainly have no inhibitions on butchering the meaning of “censuring” the President (which is not in the Constitution).

This article explains the history of censure (and notes that Congress attempted to censure Andrew Jackson.

The article also discusses the other three Congressional attempts to censure Presidents (Buchanan, Lincoln, Taft).

Well, gas prices thru the roof, fires burning out of control, taxes through the roof, unaffordable housing, illegals committing crimes all over the place...what have they got to lose?

Agreed ... but the problem is that there are a lot of useful idiots out there, and they often vote.

Politically, this is the worst shape the country has been in in my 62 years. The RATs have abandoned any semblance of common sense, common courtesy, and common decency.

I expect this travesty will boost Trump’s cause — but I still expect next year’s election to be a close-run fight without many states flipping.

And then there’s the matter of RAT vote fraud. I am of two minds here. If they were so confident they could cheat Trump out of office at the polls, why are they taking the risk of impeachment? On the other hand, close elections always seem to swing RAT, at the last minute, of course.

Ultimately, I don’t see any non-violent way out of this mess. My only hope is that it will be the RATs and their Antifa goon allies who will be doing most of the bleeding and dying.

Very good post with excellent points. Thanks.

No, there will be no non-violent way out of this.

Keep your powder dry, folks. And hone up on situational awareness.

...Trump will handily get 40 or more states next fall, the GOP will handily retake the house, and almost certainly extend their lead in the Senate...

You know what? 11 months before the election Bush I had 90% approval, but still lost to Clinton.

Do not count chickens before they hatch.

Work for Trump like we are being pursued by Satan himself -- because we are.

Thanks for your kind words. I might add that in a best-case scenario, the violence may be over within a couple of news cycles. Let’s pray that this is so.

After all, Trump IS the commander-in-chief. And one rumor I have read from time to time is that he decided to run for president after being approached secretly by a group of patriotic generals and admirals.

I can’t prove that, but it’s certainly not a far-fetched idea.

Despite the presence of Obama appointees in the military leadership, it doesn’t appear that the Pentagon is nearly as corrupt as the CIA and FBI, both of which need to be disbanded.

They have about a week to digest the Horowitz report and answer constituents questions which will run along the line of WTF. We’ll see what happens then.

Bush went into re-election in a recession...

The ONLY thing that stops a Trump landslide is a complete economic meltdown before next November or some other black swan event of that magnitude, period.

Only 4 presidents who won a first term, have lost their bid for a second in the last 120 years, and of those 3 were taken out due to the economy.... That’s reality... and only 1 president that I can recall EVER won re-election with fewer votes than he got that during his first election, and that one exception is Barack Obama...

There is no calculus where the Democrats can win 2020 and they know it, they openly admit it with all this #seinfeldimpeachment crap... “We must impeach or Trump will get re-elected”....

They know they are DOA this cycle
