Honestly, it's way, way past time to replace the news establishments with modernized alternatives. The connectivity of society is such that we can develop huge networks of reporter citizens, from around the globe. There is no need for a large organization paying large numbers of foreign and domestic correspondents. It could be set up in a way such that citizens who provide credible information that is verified will get paid from online advertising revenue.

It's doable. Today's ‘journalists’ have made this a necessity. They don't report facts without their own spin. They don't do investigative reporting - unless it fits their ideology and narrative, and they are much more interested in their byline or face time on television than they are on professionalism. They've failed society, and need to be marginalized.
