This Tattoo man may not even himself know what allowed it to mutate from a hobby into a raison de’etre.
He said he was inspired to appreciate tattoos after seeing a large one his Uncle had done in Spain. Appreciating and being obsessed with are two very different expressions.
What is he hiding from?

“What is he hiding from?”

It may be something as simple as rejection or targeted bullying in his youth by someone he loved or trusted.

An example of this is Michael Jackson.

I really think he was set upon his destructive path by his father’s rejection of his skin tone. Michael’s siblings mentioned often that his father target Michael because of his dark skin; said he didn’t like that Michael’s skin tone was darker than his siblings.

It’s a common trait in the Black community. While they may praise the few darker-skinned blacks who make it big (in their view), those who are regular folks (and darker skinned) get targeted and insulted by both male and female blacks.

Having known a sufficient amount of blacks I can say without any doubt if they didn’t hate Anglos so badly, they’d fall back on hating their own darker-skinned community members.

Though sad, it’s true.
