Army security officials in recent weeks conducted a security assessment at Col. Vindman’s request, reviewing both his and his family’s physical security and their online security, according to U.S. officials.
Army security officials have also been monitoring Col. Vindman and his family around the clock to make sure there aren’t any imminent threats, officials said.

As far as I know only LTC Kindman & family are to be protected, as he seems to be the SOLE military member.
(Absent an order from echelons far higher in the chain of command than I ever was, USACIDC does NOT protect NON-DOD personnel/family members.)
My GUESS (I’ve been retired for 13 years & have no “INSIDE” info & NO “need to know”.) is that at least one “flag” from HQDA believes that he is “in likely danger” from someone/some group.

On the other hand, with him living on base, the Army will have positive control over him and his family. Also, I wonder if he has a civilian passport and will he be ordered to turn it in? And also his official passport.
