New Silverados are just plain ugly. I have a 2017 and absolutely love it. No way would I trade it for the new style.
Had more problems with a 1992 GMC 2500 that I bought new than any other vehicle I have ever owned?
Wow. Nice improvement for 2020. 29mpg highway.
Toyota would do very well to bring back their little no bells or whistles pickups. Wed buy one in a minute.
= = =
I think there will never be any more no bells or whistles.
All vehicles have gone to being a rolling computer.
Add in DOT safety, and the cost for a small pickup would be the same as the large ones.
310 hp [231 kW] @ 5600 rpm
348 lb-ft of torque [471 Nm] @ 1500 rpm
Paired with a 8-speed automatic transmission
I'm not a Silverado guy, but all engines have improved tremendously. That inline 4 is turbocharged, and you have to start thinking in output, not number of cylinders or displacement.
I have a 1997 Ford Expedition. It's a great vehicle for hauling people, surefooted in the snow and mud, and it just passed 200,000 miles. But with the "big" V-8 available for that year, the modular 5.4 liter, it gets 14 mpg, and puts out:
230 hp [172 kW]
325 lb-ft of torque [441 Nm]
Spaztec. The car of choice of Walter White. Say my name. Heisenberg.
I bought a 2014 ram big horn. I wanted a 4x4 what is sometimes called an suv.
The new SUVs all look like bloated ticks. They are geared toward the female market. I miss the Ramchargers, Broncos. Even my original Durango is so much more of a 4x4 utility vehicle than anything out today.
But these days I keep looking at the new Dodge trucks I see in traffic with more and more want and desire. And there are a LOT of them, too!
I really dont need one, I already have a truck I like, but I kinda like fantasizing about one of those new Dodge trucks.
They do look good ... but ... can I trust a Dodge like it was a Toyota to never give me any problems?
Three Toyota Tacomas since 98 and never a repair, just basic maintenance. Oh, what a feeling!
I’ve come to the conclusion that if one wants a quality vehicle one must go TNH - Toyota, Nissan, Honda. I have a 2007 Titan that I’ve had no issues with. Wife drives a 2009 Civic we bought used. On the other hand, daughter bought a used 2013 Chevy Sonic back in April and the A/C had to be fixed and the water pump replaced, and there are other minor issues.
Again, TNH.
