It’s bad for Democrats, but they love illegal aliens even though they are bad for America but vote democrap.
In the late 19th century as pressure was building for what evolved as the 17th Amendment, one Senator predicted a push for popular presidential elections as a direct consequence.
Should progs get their way and do away with the EC, they will next push for letting the people vote directly, nationwide internet referenda, for national laws. We’ll become an Athens of 400+ million people and suffer the same consequences.
Yes sir. And they also got it right with the second amendment.
If it was not for those like George Mason, E Gerry, and Mr Randolph, we wouldnt have had the 2nd. Yet, they still refused to sign the document saying it was flawed.
If you think that you’d like to be governed by the same people who totally F’d up New York, Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco, Denver, etc., and that your vote shouldn’t count unless you live in one of these bastions of leftist progressivism, this book is for you.
Correct.
Amen!
The Democrats have the Supreme Court in their back pocket. Roberts is compromised, i.e. blackmailed.
I agree.
Correct.
The study of Greek, Roman and Middle Ages history was a canon that the colonial student started his education within. This let them see the results of direct democracy, its history as a way to keep nobility active in politics while avoiding oligarchy and its fatal flaws.
This is no where taught to our children today.
The founders generation understood and talked about the equivalency of the tyranny of one to the tyranny of 51% and how “King Numbers” was the same as any King.
The values of Franchise have been used to defeat the value of Representative Government and the Rule of Law is defeated at every turn by the Rule of the Majority.

I will do just that. Thanks for the suggestion.
Democracy is 2 wolves and a sheep voting on what’s for dinner. No thank you.
The Electoral College is a part of the Great Compromise (having a House representing people proportionately, which the big states liked, and a Senate in which each state has equal representation, which the small states liked), and is thus an utterly indispensable part of our Republic. Without this (the entire EC has always had the same number of votes as the number of House members plus the number of Senate members), the Constitution would never have passed and we wouldn’t have a nation. Get rid of it - explicitly by amendment, or implicitly by having states assign their EVs to the candidate with the most popular votes - and then you set the stage for a civil war...or, at least, the secession of many smaller states and some of the similarly-oriented large ones.
Nice graphic, but explain how “Clinton won popular by ~1.5mil” (I guess nationally) AND “Clinton received over 2mil MORE than Trump” in NYC.
How does that math work out?
Try actually reading the piece. Even the excerpt.
Agree. I also asked, if direct election is so great, why the author didn’t expound on the wonderful outcomes in countries like Russia, Venezuela, Honduras . . . ?
The next book he will write is Why the Second Amendment is Bad for America.
Errors on the graphic regarding NY/NYC:
Hillary won 17 (not 16) counties in NY state. Trump still won 45 counties.
She “won” by 1,736,585 votes in NY state.
Bronx (D) 353,646 (R) 37,797
Brooklyn (D) 640,553 (R) 141,044
Manhattan (D) 579,013 (R) 64,930
Queens (D) 517,220 (R) 149,341
Staten Island (D) 74,143 (R) 101,437
(D) total 2,164,575 (R) total 494,549
She “won” NYC by 1,670,026.

Only an idiot would try to argue against that. But we don’t have a shortage of idiots in this country so hold on for a bumpy ride because this isn’t going to go away. The millennials will jump on it and ride it to wherever the heck it is they’re going.
