There is a widening differential between the America as described by the national, left-wing media and the America in the world in which most of us live.
And a commensurate gap between President Trump's historic accomplishments and the caricature of the president drawn by both the leftist media and the radical Dems who so viciously attack Mr. Trump in the mad, continuing obsession to not only to block his agenda, to slow his achievements, to somehow, no matter how vicious or craven the means, prevent his reelection in 2020.
The president, at this critical moment, has successfully maneuvered the Chinese into a new reality that replaces their now-defunct obsession of world domination. Iran understands the economic power of America and understands because of President Trump. They don't want to ever test our military power at all.
Afghanistan, North Korea and the worldwide deployment of our troops are the legacy of decades of American arrogance and inertia of bureaucracies that have inhabited our state department for years, and visionless leaders in the White House.

Both China and Russia have soldiers on the ground in Venezuela. That is why we are there. China wants their oil. Russia wants control of their oils price.
I would also suggest Sun Tzu's strategy of keeping your enemy off-balance regarding Russia. The ChiComs have been aggressively pursuing seaports around the globe. To what end? Economic expansion and forward deployment of military forces to confront their biggest enemy - the U.S.
Hopefully he will continue to serve Trump well in the private sector. The unfortunate fact is that it seems like he's getting ready to attack Trump instead.
You are missing the point. Russian idea is to install nukes there in response for US missile base in Poland. If there weren’t US missiles on their border there wouldn’t be Russians is Venezuela. As for the Chinese they are exploiting crisis.
Wikipedia - United States missile defense complex in Poland
The United States missile defense complex in Poland, also called the European Interceptor Site (EIS), was a planned American missile defense base. It was intended to contain 10 silo-based interceptors: two-stage versions of the existing three-stage Ground-Based Interceptors with Exoatmospheric Kill Vehicles that had a closing speed of about 7 km/s. The first planned complex was to be located near Redzikowo, Poland, forming a Ground-Based Midcourse Defense system in conjunction with a U.S. narrow-beam midcourse tracking and discrimination radar system located in Brdy, Czech Republic. EIS was cancelled in 2009 and subsequently replaced with a phased planthe Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense System, which will include SM-3 Block IIA interceptors to be positioned in Poland from 2018.
Honest to goodness I don't know if this project was ever implemented. I do recall it had Ivan hopping mad.
The project moves on. It is a gynormous land-based Raytheon Mk. 41 launcher. If you have some naval background you know that Bush lied about its puspose.
He served in that he offered up his suggestions and insights, Trump took them into consideration, but in the end, decided to go in a different direction.
Nothing more, nothing less. But Bolton’s ego won’t let him accept that fact.
My memory of POTUS #43 and this project’s purpose was to serve as a deterrent to ICBMs launched from Iran/ Pakistan. I recall reading Pat Buchanan’s commentary that this project was poorly thought-out and a needless provocation of the Russian Bear which resulted in damaged U.S.-Russia relations. Is that “W’s lie” to which you refer - that its real purpose was to contain Ivan and not the Muslim terrorists in Pakistan (who I guess have ICBMs but haven’t flaunted them) and Iran (who are currently developing them.)?
Well. You probably don’t have naval background. The technology behind the launcher is that it launches a wide range of ordnance loaded in standardized canisters. Mostly tactical offensive missiles. There were two lies. First lie was to claim it was a defensive system although defences like that were prohibited at the time as well and the second that it is designed to protect from Iran which obviously makes about zero sense geographically.
That was 1 of Pat Buchanan’s complaints - that it violated the current ABM treaty. You’re right, I am a land-lubber. I had no idea these missiles were for offensive use. If true, then W truly was the dummy that I have come to realize in recent years. Buchanan said W wasted a great opportunity to normalize relations with Russia.
That was one of many and barely justified at the time. I can’t imagine a single issue on which Russia was opposed to US in earlier 2000s. In fact first actions regarding US relations when Putin was elected was to close a remaining Russian military base on Cuba. Then Russia warned US about 9/11 planned numerous times from June, 2001 and up to two days before the attack. Russia was first to offer assistance to US after 9/11 persuading Central Asian governments to let US military into their countries and also opened Russian transport network for NATO transit into Afghanistan. And the list goes on.
If your reasoning of Russia/Putin’s intention of putting a missile base in Venezuela proves out, what a truly historic tragedy it could be. Just think, 55+ years since the Cuban Missile Crisis, which of course, was a Soviet reaction to POTUS #35 JFK’s mishandling of the Bay of Pigs - either go all in and overthrow Castro, which he didn’t, or cancel the operation, which he didn’t.
What a load of crap. Isolationism is ignoring national security threats to the nation
LBJ called opponents of his Vietnam policy, isolationists
I don’t think they cared about Castro and Bay of Pigs all that much. Soviet missiles were placed in Cuba in retaliation for USAF placing PGM-19 IRBMs in Turkey. They were removed immediately as Kennedy agreed to remove own missiles.
Point well made.
Cuban missile crisis is portrayed as an epic saga of some heroic battle against dangerous foreign incursion but behind smokes and mirrors it is all as simple as that.
You supposed to be outraged the Russians placed their weapons on Cuba in 1962 but that US placed the very similar missiles a hundred miles from their border in 1959 is nothing to see.
The same thing continues to this day. You are being told about Russian aggression here and there but then US Army believes it makes sense to parade troops and armor in Estonia right down to a Russian border crossing and back. If it is supposed to make a point why the outrage over Russian military in Americas?
What is going on in Afghanistan doesn't compare to what went on in Vietnam.
Did you support going to Afghanistan? How about WWII? Was that a necessary war?
The scale is incompatible but the outcome is the same.
Vietnam War didn’t weaken the Communists but gave them a cause to rally around and Afghan War didn’t really put a dent on Islamism.
Did you support drafting Americans to fight and die in Vietnam? If not, doesn’t that make you an isolationist?
No.
I'm just wondering if you ever think war or military intervention is necessary>
Just because the Iraq war was a mistake doesn't mean the Bill Clinton's foreign policy wasn't even a bigger mistake.
Being a hawk is usually the right policy so long as national security is involved.
So youve stopped lobbing around the charge of isolationism just because someone disagrees with our endless Middle East wars.
Good, thats progress
