Wherever I go, it’s not a “gun free zone”, anymore, except courthouses. I CCW everywhere else.
Hi carriage hill. I often see this argument used in connection with any discussion of open carry. Though I am unconvinced by the argument, I am interested in why it is accepted as self evident by so many in the gun community and self defense community. In other parts of the world it seems that the opposite is the self evident truth. Every bank, every school and every store can have a guard with a full auto rifle or carbine.
Gun people believe things without evidence: e.g. a .30 carbine will not shoot through a quilt, a small of the back holster will break your back when you fall down, a post 64 Winchester push feed action does not work, and this one, open carry will get you killed.
I appreciate correction and instruction. I know of two anecdotes where in each someone stole a handgun because it was open carried and I know one anecdote where a farmer was shot off his tractor by home invaders though it was a friend of a friend thing that I could never confirm. Sure you will understand that such anecdotes cannot make the case against open carry. It if you have any input on this, I would be grateful.
