Nobody ever reads the article anyhow so screw it - no link for you

Who's to say about my vitamin D supplements? Does it really help? Some say it does. Others say it doesn't. But I take it anyhow. I certainly don't want to go through life vitamin D deficient.

I do get out into the sun everyday and I'm not a big sunscreen person except maybe between June and August when I'm at the beach. But I live in the more northern latitudes so most of the year, those sun rays apparently aren't delivering the needed vitamin D to my body. Those Eskimos never had much "sun delivered" vitamin D at all but I guess they got what vitamin D they needed from all that fatty fish they ate.

So the Game of Thrones. I never saw it. Supposedly one of the best TV series of all time and that might be true. But I started reading the books by this guy named George R.R. Martin instead. I must say, I'm halfway through Book 1 "Game of Thrones" and I'm pretty impressed. My favorite characters so far are Tyrion, Daenyrs and that one guy who walks around with a sword all the time.

I got something like 4 1/2 books to go and supposedly another two books remain to be written in the series. But so far, so good.

What up with George Martin inserting the "R.R." into his name though? Obviously a ripoff of J.R.R. Tolkien. I mean, his books stand on their own. Why bring Tolkien into the mix?

But I digress. Right now I'm also reading a book called "The Man In The Rockefeller Suit" by Mark Seal. Which is about a con-artist who calls himself Clark Rockefeller (as well as other aliases). Now this appears to be a super-intelligent guy who probably would have done very well under his original name of Christian Karl Gerhartsreiter. But no, he had to go ahead and pose as a member of the Rockefeller family.

The book is absolutely fascinating. All these super-rich folk were completely taken in by him and he was able to not only put himself into their orbit but married this woman named Sandra Boss who made over $2 million a year in a high-power job at a major consulting firm (even making partner) and yet was turned into a totally submissive wife to him, allowing him to spend all her money while forcing her to sleep in a room with the heat turned down while he hob-knobbed with the wealthy in all those exclusive clubs like the Algonqjin Club in Boston and the Yale club in New York City. Even though he never went to Yale.

This guy was a total con-man! I highly recommend this book.

So here I am on a Friday night and I poured myself a glass of wine. And you know what? A fruit fly just flew into it. I hate those fruit flies. So now I have a dilemma. Do I finger the fruit fly out of the wine and continue drinking the wine? Or do I dump the wine into the sink, fruit fly and all, and pour another glass?

Not sure what to do here. What would Clark Rockefeller do?

Can Fruit Flies Get Drunk?

Now my next book up to read is a collection of stories by Raymond Chandler, the famous pulp fiction detective story writer. I think I'll start out with "Farewell, My Lovely". Then move on to "The Big Sleep."

As for Game of Thrones (actually Book 1 of the massive "Song of Ice and Fire" series, I only read that in little chunks before going to bed. I figure I'll finish all that sometime in 2020 or even 2021. With a lot of other books in between.

I'm still thinking of starting a blog with a firewall in which I will only post a portion of it here and put a link where you have to pay me money to read the rest. Someday, I'll probably do that. But seems most people here never click through anyhow so maybe that would be a waste of my time. But it would be nice to post a blog and just count the money as it rolls in.

Anyhow, somebody on Free Republic posted a thread about Linda Ronstadt earlier today. So I'm going to go ahead and read that.

Personally I am not a big believer in supplements because the way the human body works, Usually they are just passed through as opposed to being absorbed by eating food with the necessary vitamins,minerals,... I thought “Game of Thrones” was a video game??

My Dr. had me taking vitamin D supplements for several years. His Son joined his practice and I was assigned to him. He did not renew the prescription.

I have no idea who is right.

Eskimos get massive sun- they even had to make those whalebone slit glasses because it’s so bright. But I’d avoid vitamin D on a road trip if the wife isn’t going. Sure you get strong bones and teeth, but it makes you too horny and you might give in to the prairie doves.

Be careful, that’s my advice...

Pick the fly out of the wine and squeeze the little bugger until he gives up everything he swallowed. Otherwise you just got a drunk fruit fly and heaven only knows what will happen.

I found a live bat in my firewood pile yesterday.

My Dr. is a Harvard grad. He prescribes several things which do not require a prescription. I get them much cheaper that way.

I am not sure if those high dosage “D” required one or not.

I’ve read the entire Chandler oeuvre. I liked it. But it’s languid by standards of today’s detective novels, which are like roller coaster rides.

If you like police procedurals, there’s a series of novels by the Dutch sinologist Robert van Gulik that’s mildly entertaining. Van Gulik being a sinologist, the series is set, naturally enough, in 7th century China. No idea if the period detail is remotely accurate, but the story lines are fairly absorbing.

Im just curious. Do you post inane nonsense because you are a bored narcissist? Or is it because you enjoy wasting other peoples time? Or is it because you are some type of mentally unstable person who truly believes that your nonsensical idiocy is somehow entertaining to the rest of the world?

The fact that people tolerate you enough not to call out your total waste of bandwidth is sad. But then again considering you are competing with the conspiracy kooks, the anti vaxxers, the low life obnoxious dirtbags and the assorted knee jerk wing nuts maybe you are right at home.
