Yup, pretty familiar with the Huntsville area. I think you misinterpret my comment as a slur on all the good old boys driving around Huntsville in cars with Dukes of Hazard paint jobs and Confederate Flags painted on the roofs sipping white lightning :-). Nothing could be further from the truth

If you look at the article, this is the first time that this particular Japanese company has opened a plant in the US, a situation which is often an interesting experience for all involved. Less so nowadays, perhaps, since most of these Japanese companies have also set up shop in China which is even more of an interesting experience.

If you think I’m dissin’ the Bama boys rest assured that’s not the case.

Work in a field of fairly advanced technology and one of our fav partners is located in Huntsville. Never considered them the junior partner by any means and all the people I worked with were outstanding and highly respected. Most are good friends

Spent a lot of time in Huntsville and some of the finest people I have ever met.

The Japanese ex pats will be very happy there, especially when find out what kind of house they will be living in

Keep going down I-85!

The huge Hyundai assembly plant is in Montgomery.

The supplier plants go all the way to Montgomery and beyond. Auburn-Opelika is the epicenter.

I believe Hyundai owns KIA.

Yes, I haven’t been to Montgomery to see that. Just see Kia and all the supplier plants on my way to visit friends at Lake Martin. And I think you’re right on Hyundai owning Kia, but it might be the other way around. Same ownership in any case, like VW and Audi, or Chevy and Buick.

Thanks for the info - I’m a transplanted New Yorker (Rochester) who was dropped in MS in ‘86 by the AF - proud to be a “Southerner” (never will get the vocal inflections right) these days.
