I know it as Single Channel Analyzer as opposed to an MCA, a Multi Channel Analyzer. (For those into physics.)
Ah, you bring back good memories of a very expensive, brand-new instrument I got to use back in the mid-70's. I can't even remember the manufacturer, EG&G, Varian? Definitely an American company, probably no longer exists. I was so amazed by the way the data built up in its digital memory back then.
