I understand the President’s good intentions but here is my beef...my husband was military and so was my dad and I strongly support the military and soldiers being well taken care of, however, it is normal now for HEALTHY men and women to get to the end of their service and in the final paperwork there are checklists that literally help absolutely anyone get disability even if just a percentage. My uncle got the silver star (Vietnam) and saved a ton of guys and he has zilch disability while some of these yahoos coming out, who work in a damn office, are getting tons of disability pay - they literally say during processing “did you work somewhere near a machine shop well then oops possible deafness” (a friend got that and he didn’t actual work in the machine shop! )

Guys still in told my husband to go back in and have them “review” his paperwork so maybe he could get some disability...my husband refused because he was fine coming out and he felt it was scummy to do it.

All I’m saying is this could lead to one of those closing processes where all the sudden everyone is getting their loans paid off and I’m sorry I think it could be majorly taken advantage of.

I believe you’re on the mark, terart.

I think it could lead to a massive increase in enlistments where the troops intend to *not* serve their full tour/s and will attempt like deuce to get out of the service/s with a Medical Discharge.

If they can tie the percentages of the disability to the percentages of the debt forgiven, then it may actually be a fair shake for the military. Many guys and gals have honest/valid disabilities and are not at 100% so if they got any break in the Student/Education Loans it may help them.

On a side note, my father told me over and over to go back and get my case evaluated again. First, I don’t trust any government. Second, and actually more important, I am content with my disability rating. Yes, like a lot of folks I went through stuff that did not have to happen but it did (like life, right?). The VA doctors were actually quite pi**ed as they read the notes from my files.

I knew there were issues; the military, being ‘Mission First,’ no matter what kept saying I didn’t. Let me tell you, when I received my disability notice I screamed out of shock. It was just knowing that the doctors could actually see what the doctors in the military did not want to see.

Life, right?

Back to my dad. He kept telling me over and over to go back. I finally told him if he would talk to my adopted Muslim sister about Christ the same way he talks about wanting me to go back to the VA, then, and only then will I consider it.

While I don’t expect either to happen, there is always hope, at least that he will talk to my adopted Muslim sister about Christ.

I was rambling, terart.

Sorry.
