Considering that Epstein had been in custody for a few weeks, means that anything toxic in his system requires outside intervention.
He was taken out.

He had to eat and drink too. Not many details on what his daily routine was, but he had to eat. Easy vector for lethality.
Well, I’m glad you brought that up.
Suppose he WAS found hanging by a bedsheet.
The ME has to establish whether or not he was alive or dead when the body was suspended. The ME has to determine if he was sedated prior to the hanging. The ME has to exclude brain pathology, and the brain isn’t even fixed (in formalin) yet.
All of the procedures going on at the Chief Medical Examiner’s office are normal. Now, do they work to this level of detail for every junkie found dead with a needle in his neck? Of course not.
But to they have to “do everything” in a case like this?
You betcha.
Not necessarily.
A bedsheet around the neck may create an appearance of suicide but the examiner needs to consider all evidence which includes knowing what drugs and/or poisons may have been in the person's system before a cause of death can be established.
Probably had been dead for a week before they found him.
There’s no drugs in prison? Hahahahaha! Don’t kid yourself that he couldn’t have paid to have drugs brought in to him just like any other inmate.
