Linux Mint for a start.

Besides other major distros. I just tried it Linux Mint live and cannot even connect to the Internet using a USB dual band dongle (unlikely to get dual band even if I could connect).

Not all hardware is supported.

My desktop setup can connect through the m/b e’net and/or through an installed wireless card.

The wireless card can be set up as an AP if desired and connect to the network through the e’net hardware.

You’d have to research your desired hardware device to see if there is a linux driver.
