I am in a part of Missouri that was very active during the Civil War. In fact with Kansas just a short distance the violence started before 1860. As far as current times I believe public order will break down and various factions will take control of different regions . The real question is will the country break apart or fight a conflict to imposes a political ideology on the country. I lean towards breaking apart. It won’t be pretty.

I’ve come to the conclusion personally that a partitioning of the country is the only solution that would avoid eventual bloodshed, although it would be logistical nightmare to accomplish.

Our economic path with spending and debt is unsustainable and past the point of fixing. It’s just a question of how long we can go on and how bad the end game will be. I suppose a return to real free markets and severely limited government could still fix it, but there’s a better chance of monkeys flying out of my butt than that happening in my lifetime.

I’ve read a bit about what happened in that part of the country prior to and during the conflict. I suspect it is much closer to what we would experience during another period of domestic strife than the formal war that took place in the rest of the country in the 1860s.
