...DHS has told us in the past that we are to leave the area if antifa shows up and that we are not allowed to do anything if they damage our vehicles.

I can’t believe how law enforcement’s hands are tied nowadays. They can’t do anything if a reporter is being beat up, if a bucket of water is dumped on an officer’s head, or if a police vehicle is being damaged. The inmates are running the asylum.

We were also told that we could not remove anyone from our station. In order to have protestors removed we would have to call the sheriff. If the sheriff would not or could not help then the sheriff could deputize us over the phone so we could then remove protesters from our station.

As federal Agents the law gives us lots of authority, however policy supercedes the law so our hands are tied by DHS policy.

The sheriff must know that this is in the works, so he can plan accordingly. My hope is that a Texas sheriff doesn’t take kindly to this kind of protest.
