The only fix for my issues was a hysterectomy. They attempted to get me onto a regular cycle with the pill, because I had a cycle that lasted for over a year, with regular blood transfusions required. The pill brought other issues, like mood swings, weight gain, and acne, along with (amazingly) even heavier bleeding, despite having breaks between cycles. It wasn’t worth it.
I couldn’t have children anyway, so there was no huge loss on my part.
I have a friend who moved in with her sister and her sister’s wife — yeah, you heard that right — shortly after her idiot husband divorced her. For the next seven weeks, she bled and bled. She speculated that her body was trying to synch her cycle up with those of her sister and sister-in-law.
In short, your case does not surprise me. Sometimes the plumbing must be removed entirely, I guess.
