I’m no Yankee fan but Mariano was a truly great reliever. I don’t know him personally, and hated when he came on the field against the KC Royals, but he was the man in his day. The fact that he’s a Christian. Well that just ups the respect factor.
As a Red Sox fan I also hated to see Mariano step out of the bull pen. However, just like Jeter, he was always respected as a great ball player. Maybe the best closer of all time. Hence his induction into Cooperstown this week.
