Long shots are nice but dangerous animals aren’t a problem at long range. When it comes to saving your life from a po’d Grizzly at close range I would think a lever action in 45-70 would be the preferred weapon.

The Forest Service used to issue their people a 375 H&H Magnum. Sounds a bit SMALL to me, but I sure wouldn’t choose anything smaller!
