Pain/ discomfort in kidneys but very little in aretha area.

I'm glad I got to see her in concert a few years ago. I couldn't get closer than about 300 feet to the Aretha area but I had no pain either.

Calcium oxalate stones hurt bad because the crystal facets are sharp.

Look up the use of magnesium citrate every once in a while to dissolve calcium stones before they get too large.

Usually there is no pain when it passes from the bladder. I usually either don’t even notice or just feel something moved.

They always give you a strainer else I might have not even noticed when I finally passed them.

Does the tendency to develop kidney stones run in families?
I already know diabetes does. I have been ‘pre-diabetic’ for my entire adult life. Both parents had that condition.
But I haven’t heard anyone in the family talk about kidney stones. Many relatives just may be too private to share that information with my side of the surviving family.

Life -has many little joys that one must overcome. For instance, 6 months of unrelenting just short of soldering iron rectal pain from a chronic fissure. Unresponsive to drugs and botox. Finally turned to ulcers which were successfully healed. If not, last resort is surgical laceration and prayer. Don’t get this malady.

Next up...and current...a difficult butchered slow healing surgical tooth/root extraction accompanied by tongue ulcers.Don’t get this either.

Never had stones so don’t know where they sit on the spectrum of suck. I’ve read and been told by family that they can be the worst.

For prevention, my urologist recommends drinking lemon juice in water daily and eating nuts for the magnesium. Unsalted are best. Sunflower seeds have lots of magnesium.

Around 5 years ago, my Dr. prescribed a medication which is for uric acid and the gout.

Allopurinol perhaps? I’ve been taking it for years and never had a recurrence of gout. However, a couple of weeks ago I had a cystoscopy for something totally unrelated and the doctor found a kidney stone in the bladder that I never felt. He removed it with his probe and a minimum amount of very temporary pain.

6 Coca Colas- original Coke- in a two hour period. Try not to go pee. Follow up with a can of asparagus or the equivalent of fresh. Relief is immediate and there is no “passing.” If not repeat the next day. I am prone to little stones and I have done this four times in 10 years to good effect.

I had forgotten the name but Allopurinol is right. It just might be the reason that I have gone 6 years without one.
