We raised our kids the same way. Food is consumed only in the kitchen area. No food allowed anywhere else in the house. The only “entertainment” we had in the room for a long time was a radio. We taught our kids how to cook and how to work as a team on a meal. Now they are teaching their friends who didn’t get that growing up.
We lived in Willis, Texas for nine years and my youngest daughter was in a high school class, I don’t remember which one, but they asked all the students in the room (28 kids) who sits down as a family and has at least one meal month - about 10 raised their hands. Asked about once a week - she said 3 raised their hands. SHE was the ONLY one who said that we have a family sit down meal EVERYDAY.
And we wonder why we have fractured lives and we are coming apart at the seems?!?
In a horrible way, so-called social media has created the condition where people can be together, yet apart. Each person lost in their own world on their smart phone.
