I’d love to see this protest “MOVEMENT”: Thousands of California taking dumps on Celebrity and Democrat properties.

This is very silly.
I grew up in Manila and go back there regularly.
I have lived in San Francisco for 35 years, and go downtown daily.

No, the conditions are not identical. My eyes do not lie. SF is an almost antiseptically clean place compared to Manila. Yes I know I know about the poop map. Do you have any idea what a Manila poop map would look like? Or a garbage/litter map?

Terrible. This fetid, gooey erosion of The City is being allowed to happen. Even ten years ago, it wasn’t this bad.
Meanwhile, slime quickly attracts other forms of slime.

It will take the strong and sustained kind of leadership that states certain lifestyles will no longer be accepted or supported within the public square.
For a quick minute, I thought the new mayor, London Breed would be that person. No. It won’t be her unless Gov. Newsome forces her hand.

“I have never been to Mumbai, Delhi, Mexico City, Jarkarta or Manila, and so I will just have to take her word for what the conditions are like there.”

So the author mindlessly repeats the rantings of a UN commie to validate his preconceived BS.

I’ve been to Manila and Jarkarta and they are not even close to SF. There the slums go on for miles and miles.

In SF, where I have been several times quite recently, there are a few street encampments, not slums. And yes, near them there is sh!t on the streets and needles and trash.

However, the VAST MAJORITY of the city is modern and clean. And it does not stink like any of the 3rd world cities mentioned by the author.

Though those who hate CA will be quick to chime in with a bunch of “yea, verily”, odds are those folks haven’t been to ANY of the cities mentioned in the article, to include SF.

Which remains the most beautiful and richest city in the world.

This what happens when a critical percentage of the population indulges itself in decadence, hedonism, drug use and is no longer self reliant or productive. What is more their numbers give them significant political power. America is a tale of two cities because its people no longer share a reasonable consensus of common values.

“Our homeless crisis demands that we get creative,” the mayor said.”

WRONG! Your inability to admit that your policies and ideology are CAUSING the problem is why you are trying a new and stupider thing. You must and will fail because the truth offends you. You will however, be reelected because your voters are as afflicted as you are.

Of the many reasons for homelessness, one of the biggies (IMHO) is illegal immigration.

Because...

1. (IIUC) illegal aliens take up affordable housing and also middle-class housing, with illegal #s of illegal peeps dwelling, therein. (One suspects HUD's fine hand, here. Thanks for nothing, HUD).

2. The shortage of reasonably priced abodes drives up demand and therefore prices, pricing those of modest means out of the market.

3. Illegal aliens scoop up much of the unskilled, semi-skilled, and even skilled jobs. Putting those of modest skills out of work. (Thanks for nothing, those who hire illegals to save on costs.)

4. One most highly suspects that illegal aliens take up funds for services (health care, mental health, rehab, job placement, you name it.) Certainly at least some of the addicts and mentally ill would like to receive services that now, one highly suspects, are given to illegal aliens.

5 Bottom Line? Much of of the homelessness in our fine Country can be traced to illegal aliens taking what rightfully should go to American Citizens.

I've been all over the world, and spent a week in SF last October.

This is nonsense.

Thank-you my FRiend.

But, why is more not made of the homelessness/illegal alien connection, even within conservative news sites?

(Has such reporting happened, and I somehow missed it?)

Because very few American politicians of today are brave enough to take measures that would stop or slow down the number of homeless flocking to their cities.
Both parties are full of people who prefer not to rock the boat, even when ‘the boat’ is slowly sinking.

That’s the point.
SF is not Manila
I am extremely familiar with both. I could be a tourguide in either place. I can tell you where to go and where not to.
Stand on a downtown sidewalk in either place and the difference in general cleanliness is night and day. The article is absurd.

They are stating the conditions in some areas of San Francisco are similar to Manila.

Comments illustrate an interesting psychological phenomenon. We make judgments about a given stimulus most often by comparing it to some standard. If the environment doesn't provide a standard, we invent our own. In your respective experiences, you have each been exposed to standards at the extreme end of a reference scale. In comparison to them, you apparently find the filthy districts of LA and SF to be rather acceptable.

This is defined as a contrast effect and is basic to psychophysics. EG, if you compare a one pound weight to a five pound weight, you will judge the five pound weight to be heavy. If you then compare the five pound weight to a twenty pound weight, you will judge the five pound weight to be light.

It's not wrong, but for those who do not have an extreme standard, the picture painted by the article becomes the extreme standard and their judgment, based on comparison to normal clean environments, is perfectly understandable.

We are more concerned about a handful of illegals who were not born here and have a soiled shirt and have to sleep in air conditiong on the floor for one night than our own Americans who live in this filth and get zero medical treatment?

” SF is an almost antiseptically clean place compared to Manila. “

What an totally asinine statement. “Purgatory is a wonderful place compared to hell.”

“based on comparison to normal clean environments, is perfectly understandable. “

You mean like the cities on the US Eastern seaboard, or mid-west?

Laughable.

You can SMELL the cities surrounding DC. And several cities in the mid-west look like they have been bombed. Instead of tents, their “homeless” live in the rubble.

Ever been to Baltimore, DC or Detroit? Cleveland?

You need to look at the rates of change (negative or positive) of Manila, Mumbai, etc., compared to San Francisco. Most likely S.F. Is the only one deteriorating rapidly while the others improve neighborhood by neighborhood with government and private initiatives. Yes, we know S. F. still has it’s clean areas.
