Excerpts are fine according to posting guidelines and are encouraged by the posting software itself. Even some of the news sights you try to cut and paste from will not work as the underlying post disables cut and paste.
So it’s okay to tell humblegunner he’s wrong and go about your business. Just don’t post advertisement about personal blogs or commercial blogs or provide embedded links in the post.
