I remember Biden from the 1988 campaign. That was many, many years ago. If I recall correctly, he was the target of some dirty tricksters from the Dukakis campaign (Sasso?). Was eventually forced out of the race when it was discovered he was plagiarizing speeches from British politicians (Neil Kinnock was one of them, I believe).

There was a really good book about the 1988 election called "What It Takes" by Richard Ben Kramer. Biden did not come off very well in it. Highly recommend this book.
