The absolutely WORST polluters on the entire planet were the USSR and its satellite nations in Eastern Europe. There were ZERO pollution controls in place to deal with air, water and solid waste. I remember an article from about 20 years ago detailing the unbelievable messes in East Germany. Whole areas were uninhabitable because of industrial waste disposed on the ground.
Western democracies care for the environment and have done a million times more than communist countries to fix emissions of all types.
