former Deputy Assistant to George H.W. Bush, Charles Kolb
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bush League Republicans are eager to finish of the Bush Plan for North Mexico (aka USA)
They want Trump out of the way as much as Democrats.
This is exactly what concerns me. The election will not be held in today’s economy, and economies are cyclical.
George H.W. Bush lost re-election after only a mild economic downturn that ended months before 1992’s election day.
GHWB lost re-election because he violated a campaign promise. “Read my lips...”
The is another variable in the current boom: an influx of foreign capital seeking safe haven.
Not having the passion to actually participate vigorously in his own campaign didn't help.
Agreed. “Read my lips” and other RINO type antics on his part had enough people either staying home or voting for Perot.
It’s meant to concern you.
Big Media concern trolls work hard against America and are paid well.
Typical dickheads - they don’t even HAVE A CLUE that the reason the economy is doing so well is simply because Trump took off much of the SHACKLES that Obama, and presidents before him of both parties, put on it.
Leave business alone, or at least don’t make them tie up all their capital spending on compliance with more and more regulations, and ANY president can grow the economy, even a Democrat.
If one happens before 2020, Trump fears his reelection bid chances will be slim-to-none, says former Deputy Assistant to George H.W. Bush, Charles Kolb, in a recent opinion piece in The Daily Caller.
How does he know? Did Trump tell him?
Besides, it's more than the economy, stupid.
BS!
Obama’s STAGFLATION lasted 8 years (really 10 when you consider how Nazi Pelosi tanked the market under Bush)
David Stockman? David Stockman?! He’s been getting things wrong since the Reagan days. The epitome of an ivory tower type.
The deeper realities are as usual obscured in this kind of analysis:
1. Massive stimulus was applied to the economy by the FED in purchasing trillions of dollars in stocks while Obama continued to obliterate the American free market. This fostered the appearance of a recovery and laid the foundation for a recoil if a Republican ever got in control.
2. The current recovery is even more remarkable when you stop and consider that not only is the FED not buying billions of dollars in stocks everyday as they were during the Obama era— but they literally raised interest rates to slow the economy. Compounding the matter further is that the Fed is selling off its stocks at some unknown rate further supressing the stock market.
The economy is roaring right now and the FED is a massive anchor jacobins are trying to anchor to the seabed floor so they can get back in power in 2021. Democrats want a massive economic collapse for the public. That should be said loud and frequently.
They want poverty and unemployment to increase as massively as humanly possible.
That is the essence of our current political depravity.
Oh, I’m not concerned. I believe his election was probably divine intervention. I figure all of this stuff is in God’s hands and, truth be told, the day is definitely coming where the deep state will be back in the saddle.
And you do bring up the other reason he lost - Perot.
IIRC, Clinton got less than half the vote. But then, so did Trump. :D
We know the corrupted partisan Democrats, Rinos, deep state bad actors and the media have been pushing to tank the economy prior to the 2020 election.
NOTHING they may do would turn me away from President Trump!
Hear me, ash hats?
Agreed. “Read my lips” and other RINO type antics on his part had enough people either staying home or voting for Perot. ................................... An election that gave us a President with 39% of the vote. One that was not the choice of 61% of the voters. If it wasn’t for that election the one of 2016 may never have occurred.
it is certainly true that a bad economy usually hurts a re-election candidate
it is also true that the economy goes up and down (or has cycles)
but since the current up cycle is only 2 years old, and most up cycles endure longer than this, chances are pretty good that the economy will still be pretty good in 2020
there are no guarantees, of course, but it is a good likely chance, especially given PDJT’s generally pro-economy, pro-jobs policies
ps: the headline is probably correct in saying that the D’s are not able to defeat PDJT now... given all their craziness, insanity, lies, and obstructions of/interferrences with our system of representative governance
Bush lost all by himself.
