This is part of a larger news story in Canada, as the government tries to position itself against phantom “foreign” enemies (i.e., Russian) collaborating with white nationalists like Goldy. How this would sway more than a dozen people to vote for anyone is beyond normal comprehension, but it is an attempt to throw media attention off the current large scandals dogging the Liberal Party as it faces the election widely expected this fall.
A handful of other white nationalist largely unknown figures have been given the boot from facebook and instagram at the same time as Faith Goldy. Although she is described in this thread as a conservative, I don’t think she is very well known in mainstream political circles in Canada, her mayoralty bid in Toronto netted her about 1% of the vote there.
The real play here is not to silence these marginal figures but to try to tie them to the political conservative opposition in Canada. Of course they have some pictures on file with politicians posing for pictures with some of these alleged far right people, most likely the politicians had no idea who they were or had a different idea about who they were from facebook and the Liberal government.
I don’t dispute that they are quite far to the right but so what, people quite far to the left are basically running Canada so a little balance is always good.
Mostly, Faith Goldy is the reason the spineless GOP tried to run Steve King out of congress.
King endorsed Goldy's run for mayor. Goldy then appeared on a somewhat comedic YouTube interview (since removed) where she was asked to repeat the "14 words" --a slogan attributed to white nationalists. "We must secure the existence of our people and a future for white children."
Goldy repeated these words while arguing there really isn't anything wrong with the statement.
King continued endorsing her mayoral run.
At this point, King's deep-pocketed support dried up and he was condemned as a racist by the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Goldy later took to the streets of Toronto and repeated the "14 words" except changed "white" to "Aboriginal" where the statement drew overwhelming support.

And King, as we all know, went on to win his race despite losing all establishment support. He was supposed to lose like Roy Moore did. As punishment for not losing, King was stripped of all his committee positions.
