If youre a teacher, custodian, librarian or school nurse looking for a job, dust off that resume. Parkland School District plans to ramp up hiring for the elementary school slated to open in the fall of 2020 and is adding a couple of teachers on the middle and high school level.
At Tuesdays school board meeting, Assistant Superintendent Rodney Troutman presented district staffing requests to the school directors, who will vote on the final 2019-2020 budget in June.
Troutman said administrators would like to hire four elementary teachers, plus a special education teacher for a behavioral support classroom in grades two through four. They also want to hire a school nurse for the Veterans Memorial Elementary School under construction in Upper Macungie Township in advance of its opening.
Troutman said they need the nurse to prepare the school health room quarters but also to fill in when nurses in other schools are out sick or to accompany field trips.
