Their thought was they could make Trump’s life a living hell, so much so that he would either stroke out or just throw up his hands, saying “I don’t need this, I quit.” They could then say, “see, we were right, case closed” and the investigation would shut down and everything about it would be covered up, down the Memory Hole, and their role in the coup would remain locked away. No, they intended to destroy him as a warning to anyone else who would challenge the deep state. Once the game began, one of them had to fall. Now that they're losing, they want to call it off. But they've started a game we haven't got to finish.
