How do you figure? The prosecutor goes to the judge and tells him that the parties struck a deal, and that the prosecution will be dropping the charges. The judge can’t force the prosecution to put on a case.
This is fascinating. Some big guns are coming out strongly against this decision. I think the outrage is genuine because the normal reaction would be to take the side of the black gay guy. That they’re not, tells a tale, though it’s not to say Axelrod or Emanuel and others have suddenly become ethical, only that the evidence is undeniable and this isn’t right.
How much influence did the Obamas exert in this? That’s the question that I’d like the answer to..

I dunno. Normally Rahm would parrot the party line but he’s not running for Mayor again and this whole thing is a kick in the nuts to the CPD and by extension, himself. I think he and his top cop are genuinely pissed. If I were the States Atty for Cook County and her Assistant I would be VERY careful not to leave any parties with booze on their breath.
