I’m not trying to be that guy but how did Cabot not make this list? Maybe because it’s more of a custom shop and guns begin at over $5K and go into the hundreds of thousands. Nice work if you can get it.
I’m fond of my Para-Ordnance Big Hawg 45
Kimber Pro Raptor in .45, the way God and John Moses Browning intended.

I concur with your Raptor opinion, other than the Raptor series are one of Kimber’s more expensive (I have an Ultra Raptor). However, for a value priced high quality 1911, Kimber’s Custom II is my vote for the best at the best price.
4” Kimber Pro Carry II
Big fan of SIG 1911, especially this one in .38 Super.
Here's a source of ivory and mammoth ivory grips.

I concur. But Mrs. L wanted something pretty. And she wanted us to match. Who was I to argue?
And, just for th record, JMB would have slapped the guy who said lets make one in .380 silly.
Best,

I have a Remington R1 and love it. Its very faithful to the original with just a few changes like a modern 3 dot sight and a little bevelling around the trigger guard to make it more comfortable. I specifically did not want a 1911 that was all dolled up with an extra long beaver tail and other add-ons. Ive found the R1 to be reliable and accurate. For a price of around $600 it was well worth it.
I know a few guys who swear by their relatively cheap but utterly faithful to the original, Rock Island 1911s. I think you can pick one of those up for around $450.
I have a Springfield Armory - very pleased with it - to the point I’ve been considering picking up a second.
Pretty happy w my Colt Series 70, Mk-IV, Gold Cup tricked out for competition.

I think you’re confused, the round used is .38 Super Auto, not the .380 Auto
Take a look at the ballistics
.380 Auto (9mm short) ME 168-220 ft.lb
9mm ME 294-450 ft.lb
.38 Super Auto ME 368-500 ft.lb
I think youre confused,
Nope. The article clearly states that the Kimber Micro is chambered in .380, not .38 Super. JMB would not be pleased.

(And no, I don't own one...)
JMB pretty much defined the .380 for the majority of the 20th century with the Colt 1908. A bit large and heavy by current standards, but a fine, reliable gun.
I must have missed that. So what we have is a pistol that is similar to the Sig P238, a copy of which I own and love. My wife has one as well.

A rational nation would have a statue of JMB in every single town square from coast to coast.

I've also got a Kimber micro 9; the very early Solo CDP model. The Solo is a beautiful little thing, but I rarely shoot it. Even compared to other lightweight micro pistols, the muzzle flip is terrible and hard to control. Plus it stings! Granted, all the tiny 9mm pistols are probably very snappy, but this one seems extra unfriendly.
Kimber SIS. My favorite for on-duty. Unfortunately, lost it and all the others in the boating accident. Rotten luck, I tell ya!
