I will be posting a few more heart herbs, here is one that is in my heart formula, along with Arujuna, Hawthorne, and a couple of others. I ust Jatamansi a lot as it has many uses and there is nothing that I know of like it in western herbalism.

Jatamansi

Tissues: plasma, blood, muscle, nerve and marrow.

Systems: nervous, circulatory, urinary, digestive, respiratory

Properties: nervine, relaxant, antispasmodic, vasodilator, anti-inflammatory, alterative, bitter tonic, diuretic, anticonvulsant.

Indications: anxiety, depression, spasms, convulsions, epilepsy, hypertension AND hypotension, palpitations, arrhythmia, diminished appetite, motion sickness, jetlag, thrombophlebitis, memory loss, hysteria, PMS, insomnia

Jatamansi is a rejuvenative for the nervous system that shares the calming quality of Valerian without creating dullness of body or mind. [I use an Indian variety of Valerian called Tagar, that is less dulling and works very well.] It has affinities to the mind, nerves, muscles, heart, liver and GI tract. Its grounding effect on mobile, erratic qualtiies make it useful in the treatment of anxiety, spasms, tremors, convulsions and even epilepsy.

It helps to cool and pacify the mind, improve memory and concentration, and enhance awareness. [This is NOT any kind of narcotic or strong drug type herb, totally safe, non-habit forming and very effective. I always have at least 3 pounds on hand as it is not easy to find.]

It is useful for hyperactivity and the inability to focus, so helpful for children labeled ADD/ADHD. It can be used with other herbs such as Ashwagandha, Shankpushpi, Gingko, Bacopa, Gotu Kola and Vacha.

Helps to relax the heart muscles, and helps normalize BP, whether too high or too low, and for arrhythmia and palpitations, good combined with Ashwagandha.

Being antispasmodic, Jatamansi can help with PMS, menstrual pain or other types of dysmenhoria, menopausal symptoms (especially in combination with Shatavari), and generalizes muscle and nervous tenstion.

I use it in formulas for stress, anxiety, memory or lack of focus difficulty, heart function, insomnia and pain.

Thanks very much little jeremiah for this information. I have a 1 lb order of Jatamansi herb (Nardostachys jatamansi), and Arjuna bark on the way from https://www.vadikherbs.com.

I do have one question: Do you mix these powders as a formula in water when taking them? I am used to getting my supplements in tablet form.
