I deal directly and forthrightly with these children with the words: “I am diabetic and cannot eat sweets.” If they persist about some kind of dietetic sugarless cookie I inform them that my Dr. forbids me to eat any carbohydrates. That seems to do it and does not ruffle feathers.
You & the other good men on this site have wonderful & gracious responses. What is shocking are the “men” on here who don’t. I am really shocked by their lack of a clue & that a grown “man” does not offer any kind of advice or dumb comment to a little girl. Dad’s DON’T like that!
