The boat was pretty stinky too - and always noisy at night. Some kind of weird pump always running or something. They had a lovely kitchen with granite so it was not a low end boat - but for day in and day out living it had a lot of drawbacks.

Having a house as a base and an RV seems like a pretty great way to go. You can go a lot more places in an RV - in a boat you are pretty stuck as so few places are easy and safe to get to. They were in CA which has suprisingly few destinations sea wise - they went to Catalina a lot.

RV's have their smells as well, but maybe not as many as a boat. I have a number of friends with RVs who lived out of them for a period of the year. All have home bases. They seem to really enjoy the lifestyle. But at least two died shortly afterwards. In one sense they got to live their dream, but did doing so cause them to die early? :(

Though I have a RV, I haven't spent more than a few days in it at anyone time. I can see were living on the road, unless you spend a lot of time parked, can cause a lot of stress too, finding a place to stay, dealing with traffic, etc.

I'm usually glad to get back home, so I can rest. lol
