Iran/Shipping attack update
Highly disturbing - Pentagon believes crew of Norwegian-owned tanker Front Altair detained by Iran. US officials say crew first rescued by merchant vessel, Hyundai Dubai, but Iranian gunboats surrounded ship demanding the crew. Captain ordered crew to surrender. 23 crew members being held in Iran.
“detained”, not rescued, implies Iran hiding something.
USS Bainbridge has 21 mariners on board from commercial cargo vessel Kokuka Courageous. Bainbridge beat the Iranians to the vessel and the crew requested support from the Bainbridge. The Kokuka Courageous is the same vessel that was later videoed showing Iranian patrol vessel crew removing what is believed to be a ‘limpet’ mine from the side. What adds confusion to this situation is that the owner of the Kokuka Courageous is reported to have statded that the tanker crew saw “flying objects” before attack, suggesting ship wasn’t damaged by mines. Could this be a Houti (sp)drone? The current status of the Courageous is that it is heading for the harbor of Khor Fakkan (UAE).
Threat summary - the likelihood of US military response to these attacks is relatively low. Some intelligence analysts suggest that until US lives are lost or facilities/assets are attacked, President Trump will exercise restraint. Current assessment is that there will be on invasion of Iran, but a substantial destruction of its force projection capabilities in the region.

Many twitter purges have been very public - particularly those involving the banning of conservative voices. This weekend twitter at the behest of other countries (namely India, but others as well) has started a purge of OSINT (open source intelligence) accounts. These purged accounts are among the many that I look to for timely intelligence. Foreign govts forcing their ‘laws’ on a US based/operated corporation in the interwebs does not bode well for the so called freedom of speech these platforms built their following upon as well as closes off news other than the approved, SJW, politically correct kind of crap seen on MSM. Backlash is building but uncertain how effective this will be.
Iran
Iran announced that they will surpass their enriched uranium limits within 10 day. There are some analysts that believe Iran has enough highly enriched uranium to construct a nuclear bomb. It is also believed that Iran partnered with N Korea on the development of their nuclear weapons so as to get the technology while keeping out of reach is Israeli weapons systems.
South American Blackout
Suspected internet hacking of the power grid based on the wide spread nature of the outage. Concerned that this could be a test run for America.
Israel
Gaza sends more incendiary balloon bombs into Israel. Other than that, things are at their normal rumble.
Persian Gulf/Iran
Information flow about the attack on two tankers has dried up (twitter bans). One interesting factor is that Iran attempted to shoot down a US drone flying overhead. Not something one would do if entirely innocent about the incident. My best assessment is that until US personnel/assets are directly touched by Iran or its proxies, the US will keep its powder dry. If POTUS orders the trigger pulled don’t expect the limited mosquito strikes like past administrations, but something very very strong and hard (based upon his ordered strikes to date).
Twitter OSINT war
Push back against twitter has resulted in several OSINT feeds being restored. The precedent of kowtowing to a foreign government is one that threatens to unravel all social media. These OSINT feeds are important in that they are:
1. Timely
2. Generally accurate and honest in reporting the degree of confidence in the data
3. Generally stay away from politics of the situation to avoid that bias.
Iran
Yesterday’s announcement of an additional 1000 military being deployed to the middle east pushes the needle higher, but not enough to be considered a sufficient offensive force. Currently set to be force protection.
Potential pentagon leak saying a military strike against Iran’s uranium enrichment facility(s) is scheduled for July. Huge leak if this is the case.
Analysis of Iran indicates that the sanctions are continuing to hurt the country and causing the mullahs to become more irrational in respect to poking the bear. Because of President Trump’s demonstrated resolve to overwhelmingly strike back if necessary, Iran’s hands are tied to use of proxy forces. This is becoming evident in Iraq where Katusha rockets were launched at US facilities overnight. Iran has spent a lot of time and money setting up anti-US Shiite militias as part of its power grab to create an Iranian ‘crescent’ from Syria to Afghanistan.
If things become kinetic between the US and Iran FULLY EXPECT cyber attacks against US networks. Uncertain if Iranian ‘cells’ would take action here as since 9/11 threats of cell actions from terrorists hasn’t panned out to the extent believed. A lot would depend upon Iran’s desperation.
N Korea
Post event seismic analysis indicates that the suspicious ‘quake’ near the NK/China border was not nuclear in origin.

Many OSINT sources have been restored. Now just getting things relinked. The source of the grief was India pressuring Twitter.
Iran/Hezbollah/Israel
Scuttlebutt is that Israel is preparing for an significant attack from Hezbollah as directed by Iran. Expected window is within the next few months. Purpose would be to damage Israeli military and economy in response to impacts from sanctions.
While this scenario is plausible, if I were Iran I’d have second thoughts.
1. Israel won’t pussy-foot around and may even strike Iran proper.
2. The US may strike Iran for attacking an ally and US interests.
Iran/Iraq
There has been an uptick in attacks against western-based targets in Iraq over the past several days. The attacks usually consist of a rocket or mortar - shoot and scoot. Targets have been combination of military to petroleum. Very strong likelihood these are Iranian-backed militias that have popped up since Iran went into Syria and Iraq to battle ISIS.
President Trump is reported to be reluctant at present to order any attacks - running counter to war hawks in his administration. That is not stopping him from deploying forces necessary to back up his warnings.
Hong Kong
Just so we won’t forget, the population of Hong Kong sent a very loud and strong message to Beijing regarding its intrusion into its autonomy. They embarrassed Beijing and Xi - and the communist govt has traditionally not taken such embarrassment very well in the past.
Well, a night changes a lot
Iran
Unless you haven’t had your second cup of coffee this morning, overnight Iran shot down a MQ-4C Triton recon drone (Navy version of the USAF RQ-4 Global Hawk). This drone was also likely providing intelligence support to the Lincoln carrier strike force.
Iran is disputing the US claim that it was in international airspace. Given the reported sensor array the drone carries, there is no need for it to pass into Iranian airspace as it is designed for stand-off recon. Earlier Iran attempted to shoot down another drone providing recon support to Naval assets responding to the attacked oil tankers.
What to make of all of this -
Shooting down of any aircraft in international airspace is an act of war. As an “asset”, this pushes very, very close to the red line drawn by POTUS and may well have stepped over it. The biggest question is what will be the response - and there has to be a response or Iran will see this as a sign of weakness, emboldening further attacks. Since no US lives were lost, nor USN surface vessels attacked (BIG red line items) I would not anticipate a massive strike. More likely a proportionate strike is probable. I am reasonably certain US forces know exactly where the missile battery that launched is located (probably S300) as well as other AD facilities along the straits of hormuz. A series of coordinated air strikes on those facilities would send a serious message to Iran we are not amused - as well as damaging their defensive capability should things escalate further.
Preparation here in America -
I noted before, Iran may institute a series of hacking attacks on the US internet infrastructure targeting banking, communications, energy, etc. If/when US forces respond to the shootdown, Iran may instigate cyberwarfare as it is hard to trace and disruptive. May be a good idea to fill up the gas tank today.
Iran/Israel
Israel just completed an exercise preparing for a potential Hezbollah attack (prompted by Iran). It is reported to be one of the largest in recent time. Israel wont pussy foot around this time.

U.S. authorities announced Wednesday the arrest of a 21-year-old Syrian man on terror charges in relation to an alleged plot to bomb a church in Pittsburgh.
Mustafa Mousab Alowemer was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with one count of “attempting to provide material support ISIS, and two counts of distributing information relating to an explosive, destructive device, or weapon of mass destruction in relation to his plan to attack a church,” according to an affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Pittsburgh
The affidavit states the FBI’s Pittsburgh branch undercovered a plot by Alowemer to bomb the Legacy International Worship Center on the North Side.
Iran/US Update
Israel military is on alert for the possibility of a US response to Iran
Syrian sources indicate that ‘sensitive’ Syrian military installations are on heightened alert in anticipation of strikes. One of which is the T4 airbase. Appears to consist of bases with high numbers of Iranian personnel.
Houthi have launched more uav/cruse missiles at Saudi airfields.
Congressional leaders have had several briefings on the situation today.
Iran released a map showing the flight path of the MQ-4C. Even their figure show it clearly in international airspace.
All of this seems to indicate that a US strike of some size is expected in the near future. Currently night time in the ME.
