I agree. In the absence of controversy, I find the SOTU addresses little different from campaign speeches, boring, repetitive, and vacuous. I rarely waste time with them.

Watching Trump dump on Dems could be sponge-worthy, though.

I would say this...considering the sixteen presentations by Bush II and Obama....there’s virtually zero value to these. I did enjoy the first two given by Reagan, but the others given by him were just average political chat features. The worst ever given was the 1978 SOTU episode with Jimmy Carter.

Mitch McConnell, then spend the rest of the day getting rid of more of the un-American legacy of Barack Hussein Obama.

COTUS Article II, Section 3, NOWHERE says that the House of Representatives INTIATES the SotU process. COTUS says:

"He (President) shall from time to time give Congress Information of the State of the Union and recommend to their Consideration such Measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient".

However, it is the next sentence that needs our attention!

"[H]e may on extraordinary Occassions, convene both Houses, or either of them, ..."

The Constitution puts the ball in the President's court. If he desires, he can compel both houses to convene to hear the SotU.

Trump should show up at the appointed time. If the democrats are not there he can point that out. He can also reference the FBI corruption and how he is cleaning out the crooks and closing in on the traitors.
