The President should consider keeping it as scheduled. Let the Republicans all show up, and the Democrats stay in PR, their districts, or wherever the hell they’re lurking. The optics of the half-empty seats will be fabulous on TV.

I think you’re right. If Pelosi says to zig, it’s probably best to zag. However, if and when Trump gives the address, the Democrats will boo him as no president has been booed before. Perhaps that’s unavoidable.

Will that make the Democrats look bad? Not really. Because in this polarized country, half the electoral will approve of the booing.

I don’t know if he can. It’s by invitation of the house.

Maybe the President Trump should answer back “you can just stay on vacation in P.R. Nancy if you are too afraid to be in DC without protection”

The President can’t go to the House unless invited by Pelosi. So that won’t work. He could break w tradition and speak to the Senate however, plus random Republican house members. Optics would be fun.
