Ironically, the #metoo movement is reacting against the sexual climate created by the likes of Hugh Hefner, Alfred Kinsey, Robert Guccione, et. al. Their reaction is not against an earlier society influenced by the Legion of Decency and Anthony Comstock. They are opposing the permissive society of mid century and thereafter, not so called Victorian morality.

Further irony in that the second wave of feminism which we called womens’ liberation was one of the big forces pushing for sexual freedom.
