yes, what is wrong with getting to know (not in the biblical sense) each other before jumping into the sack and doing the most intimate thing two people can do, sometimes when they've only met an hour ago?

It brings tears to my eyes when I watch the movie Return To Me and the David Duchovny character asks Mini Driver if he can hold her hand.

Every time I think of what life will be like when Alzheimer's takes Mrs. Dad from me I cannot imagine life in this society with superficial relationships and quick sex. But that is probably just me.

Nope, not just you. If ever my wife is taken from me, I won't be interested in looking for another relationship at all. No-one could match her and quick sex is not something I'd be looking for.
