Yep, the Peacemaker was a real piece of work. I like revolvers and the Peacemaker is still the gold standard looks wise. I still like watching John Wayne spin his and drop it in his holster. Just too cool.
Large, solidly made, and reliable with classic form the Peacemaker conveyed a seriousness of purpose that a more compact revolver in smaller caliber might not. Alas, being on the small side, the one time I fired a Peacemaker at a range years ago the recoil again made clear that I was better off with a much smaller caliber hand gun.
