I haven’t had the flu shot in years nor have I had the flu.

I take reasonable precautions and wash my hands carefully after being out and avoid large crowds and places where the flu is likely to be when it’s going around.

Besides, it’s not necessarily the flu that kills but complications.

Do people forego the pneumonia vaccines just because they think they are safe because they got the flu shot?

How much of a false sense of security does the flu shot that’s only 10-40% effective, hoping they get the strain right in the first place, do people get that they take unnecessary chances or are careless or lackadaisical about hygiene?

There’s not enough certainty about the flu shot to make it worth the risk, especially for someone allergic to eggs.

If you are allergic, that is a reasonable reason not to get the shot.

But the general anti-vaxxers on FR are just fooling themselves. Sure, because they are holed up in their cellars, they probably are not exposed. But the flu will kill an old guy faster than just about anything else they will catch.

If you are a smoker (or even a former smoker) the flu will put you in the ground in less than a week.

We go through this every year. The AVaxers pound their chests every year. It just seems there are fewer and fewer of them every time around.
