"Um. How does that work?

I don’t get a flu shot. You do. You believe the flu shot is “immunizing” you from getting the flu. So how does whatever happens to me, affect you anyway?"

_________

LOL

Should have.. coff.. gotten the .. coff coff.. vaccine!

Interesting that you see some humor in Polio. /s

We weren't laughing so much about it back around 1950.

By the way, here at the University of Pittsburgh Dr. Jonas Salk discovered and developed one of the first successful polio vaccines.

"In 1948, he undertook a project funded by the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis, the organization that would fund the development of a vaccine, to determine the number of different types of polio virus. Salk saw an opportunity to extend this project towards developing a vaccine against polio, and, together with the skilled research team he assembled, devoted himself to this work for the next seven years.

The field trial set up to test the Salk vaccine was, according to O'Neill, "the most elaborate program of its kind in history, involving 20,000 physicians and public health officers, 64,000 school personnel, and 220,000 volunteers." Over 1,800,000 school children took part in the trial." (Wiki)

You're right, it was incoherent and irrational.

I took my first (and last) influenza vaccine in 1999 at age 50. Weeks later I got the chronic form of Guillain–Barré syndrome. I still suffer with to this day When I went into the military they forced us to get flu shots every year. In 1996 I got mine and was flat on my back three hours later. Two days later when I finally managed to get out of bed and to the doc he admitted the shot caused it. After that I refused them and didn't take one again until this year when I turned 50. 22 years without the shot I got the flu a couple of times but like most healthy young persons I got over it in a couple of weeks. It was a calculated risk to not take the shot but in light of my experience before I chose not to and everything worked out fine. Now that I'm getting older I decided to take the shot and risk having a reaction to it. From a public health point of view it's better for those around you if everyone is vaccinated, it'll slow the spread of the flu. From an individual perspective however I don't believe it's in everyone's best interest to take it. The standard line is that you can't get sick from it but that's BS, I did and many others have. For a young person that's going to weather a bout with the flu just fine I'd be hesitant to take it, the risk of getting sick from the shot are there and contracting the flu isn't that great of a risk. For an older person the flu can be dangerous so I'd get the shot. I think the insistence that everyone get vaccinated is a case of the CDC wanting to protect society as a whole at the risk to the individual. They portray the shot as risk free but it isn't, I know that for a fact because it knocked me for a loop once. Anyone telling you that it's totally risk free is lying to you.

I’ll be 70 in 2 months. I would die before taking another flu shot. I’m still sick from the last one 19 years ago.

Actually, an acute attack on the respiratory system CAN kill you. Especially if you have a weakened immune system.

Our hospital is full of people who thought the flu shot was a waste of time. And the morgue is literally double booking over these holiday weekends.

So, go ahead and stay unvaccinated. You can share a bench in the fridge with a neighbor.

Yes, because it is so much fun listening to you hack up a lung for the last few days of your life. We love listening to old fools and their families cry. Medicare loves paying those last few days in the ICU. All because you cannot stand the shot.

When people who get the shot say they get “the flu” they are lying. They get colds and stomach viruses. The flu kills old people. Unless you are diagnosed with the flu, you have a cold.

Think of someone else for once.

I haven’t missed a flu shot in over 20 years, and that includes going to Canada the year we didn’t have enough to go around, so suck on that.

But I STILL refuse to accept that she ‘won’ the lottery given the death rates at her age.

I haven’t had the flu shot in years nor have I had the flu.

I take reasonable precautions and wash my hands carefully after being out and avoid large crowds and places where the flu is likely to be when it’s going around.

Besides, it’s not necessarily the flu that kills but complications.

Do people forego the pneumonia vaccines just because they think they are safe because they got the flu shot?

How much of a false sense of security does the flu shot that’s only 10-40% effective, hoping they get the strain right in the first place, do people get that they take unnecessary chances or are careless or lackadaisical about hygiene?

There’s not enough certainty about the flu shot to make it worth the risk, especially for someone allergic to eggs.

That seems FAR more likely.

Infect her with something else with that injection and make it look like the flu vaccine.

Convenient.......

Who knows, but when you hear about car crashes where the driver (an actor) was convinced that his car had been hacked, you hear about a person who commits ‘suicide’ by shooting himself twice in the head, Seth Rich having recoverable injuries but having to face a well-connector doctor, not to mention the Clinton Killing Fields...you do start to wonder, a bit.

I’m not saying that I know the cause of death, but I’m not buying the Swine Flu line...just too convenient.

This is moronic. The writer doesn’t know if she got the flu vaccine but blames it anyway.
A conclusion in search of supporting evidence

You can’t get the flu from the vaccine. It’s not a live strain.

If you are allergic, that is a reasonable reason not to get the shot.

But the general anti-vaxxers on FR are just fooling themselves. Sure, because they are holed up in their cellars, they probably are not exposed. But the flu will kill an old guy faster than just about anything else they will catch.

If you are a smoker (or even a former smoker) the flu will put you in the ground in less than a week.

We go through this every year. The AVaxers pound their chests every year. It just seems there are fewer and fewer of them every time around.

DID YOU READ THIS PASSAGE IN THE ARTICLE?? ---

" It is unclear whether Payton received the flu vaccine ........... though the only post (of hers) that we can find about the subject was sarcastically critical of the industry: “State urges more people to get vaccinated. NOOO ! vaccines are from the devil.”"

Words are for reading (carefully). Then you won't make aggressive, incorrect claims as you did here.
