People in polite societies of today rarely use the term
‘Bastard’ anymore, but sometimes, that is exactly what is accurate. Bastard, meaning illegitimate (another forbidden term) or a child of unmarried parents.
Some use it to mean a child where the fatherhood is not certain. But, as stated, most don’t use that term now because it’s seen as too judgmental.
For years, I had family chatter on ‘Indian blood’ down the line. DNA test in past year? Zero. None.
However...two odd things popped up. Neither exactly pleased the family. Like you say....you can’t be judgemental.
