Can you explain to me why Flynn says he doesn’t think he was set up?

Reading like crazy...trying to get good answers.....I'm thinking there's a reason for him to let the judge take total control...as it seems its happening. WHY?...I haven't an intelligent clue. There HAS to be a legal reason here.
