Well at the time I wasn't thinking about looking for footprints. Nor did I have it in mind to have anything else to do with the animal.
My only thought was towards my safety and getting as far away from it as possible. Also I don't know what it's footprints would have done for me at the time in 1973? I don't know what they'd do for me if I saw it today?
The only person I told this to back then was my father. And it wasn't until years later that I even told other members of my family.

ps; I've had a black bear stand on it's hind legs not more than 75 feet from me in the same general area. This thing was nothing like it. Nor like a ape. Thank you.

It's very interesting. Too bad you didn't squeeze off a shot, the late Grover Krantz noted that for a species to be ID'ed and accepted requires a type specimen.
