Yup. That number is for police across all of France, which probably includes crossing guards and the like. It sounds great, but when you get down to it we aren’t talking about 89,000 trained riot police.
....maybe that egg had effect on his
judgement.
“It sounds great, but when you get down to it we arent talking about 89,000 trained riot police.”
It reminds me of somebody who called in the National Guard to quell a college protest. A bunch of nervous, mostly untrained, mostly ill-disciplined, heavily armed men getting pelted with rocks sounds like a recipe for disaster. Nothing helps your popularity as a leader more than fifty or so dead innocents. And the whole thing will be recorded on a few hundred iPhones and Tweeted across the world.
Oh, and what happens when a bunch of cops join in with the protesters?
The problem for Macron is he is defending a globalist climate change theology. The rhetoric has been elevated to utter catastrophe if the religion isn’t paid fealty to this very instant. If we don’t do X we will all die in ten years. Because he has artificially raised the stakes to an all or nothing level he can’t back down on his anti-global warming policies or we’ll all die. Therefore all he can offer is a six month delay while, obviously, the government develops the means to quell dissent by heretics.
I think the average man on the street understands this.
