If any justice retires in 2020, the Democrats will howl about Merrick Garland and how the rule is not to consider Supreme Court nominees during a presidential election year.
Just saying, if there’s a vacancy in 2020, the media and Democrats will say we shouldn’t fill the vacancy.
It doesn’t matter. They don’t call the shots-in the Senate, at least.
. . . course that precedent would never have been set if the Democrats controlled the Senate in 2016 - and will not outlast the next time a SCOTUS vacancy arises in a presidential election year when the Democrats do control the Senate as well as the WH.
